191 lbs - November 27

191lbs.  Down 19lbs since Surgery day Nov 9.

I have been living off of Isopure Protein drinks.  I found my favorite flavors are Blue Raspberry, Grape, and Coconut.  I have to set an alarm to go off every 15 min to remember to drink 2oz.  When I get behind on my protein I feel so tired, I could just lay down all day.  When I stay on top of my protein I feel really good.

Yesterday was Thanksgiving.  I knew when I scheduled my surgery I would be on liquids for Thanksgiving. That was OK with me.  I wanted the surgery more than food.  I made a Chx tortilla soup and that went down pretty good.  I tried a small amt of mashed potatoes, covered it in gravy, and added lots of chx broth.  Even watered down, they wouldn't go down my new little tummy.  But the soup, I was able to take a couple bites a few times.  That tasted so good.

For the first 18 days I lost a pound a day.  Now that I've added chx broth and soup I'm not losing that any more.  I'm not worried, who can sustain a pound a day??

Since when I had surgery my liver was so large and fatty, I need to really watch carbs.  I'm trying to do more research on what that means I CAN eat :)  Dr told me to keep carbs to 40g or less a day. That is not an easy goal.

I have started having some protein shakes that made with milk or OJ but need to really limit those due to the carbs.  Just wanted some change of taste.

FAST FORWARD

I had to re-visit my old blog this week.  Took a little work to get back into it, but here I am.  SO my last post was Feb 2009.  In December 2009 I had my lapband removed.  It had caused increasing issues with absolutely nothing going down. When I got to the hospital, I was back to 126lbs and looked terrible, felt terrible and knew something had to change.  I continued to tell my family that I would live miserable and skinny anyday over fat!  I fought tooth and nail to keep my band, but in the end my body rejected it and I couldn't keep anything down, not even clear liquids.  I was was checking into the ER about twice a week to get rehydrated and try to keep getting liquids in.  Measuring 2 oz of fluids an hour to stay hydrated.  It really was miserable.  My Dr said, if you were my daughter I would admit you tonight and remove your band.  That was exactly what we did.

I regained rather quickly despite the Dr telling me I would have to take it slow, I was that malnourished.  I knew I would.  When I reached 175 lbs I decided I had to stop.  That I hadn't went through all that to just blow it away.  I dropped to around 145-150 for about a year.  I worked hard at controlling food and getting exercise.  I had accountability partners to help me get there.

In 2014 I started an antidepressant that had a side effect of weight gain.  I ballooned to 200 lbs in 6 months.  So frustrating.  I stayed around 200-210 until Oct 2015.

I researched getting a sleeve since I got my band.  I was finally able to afford the surgery!  Insurance wouldn't cover it again.  So I decided to go to Mexico again and pay 1/4 of the cash required in the US.  I had a GREAT experience the first time in Mexicali and I knew it would be great again.

So here I am. November 9, 2015 I had my sleeve surgery by Dr. Juan Arellano in Mexicali Mexico.  I weighed 211 lbs when I went to the hospital and today, November 14, 2015, I'm at 203.

I'm sipping 2 oz of Isopure Clear Protein every 15 min (I have to set a timer or I forget).  My stomach is healing and I feel 50% better than the day before, everyday.

Thanks for reading this and I hope that my journey can be an encouragement to your journey.

141 lbs

February 21, 2009

OK, enough ice cream. I have to just stop buying the stuff. My size 4 jeans are soooo tight. I want to buy a new size but I promised myself I wouldn't!! I have done a workout DVD 2x's this week and I promised myself I would do it today too!! I hate getting back into this lifestyle...promising myself I will get better about what I eat and when and then nothing happens, this is why I got my band. I would like to get a small fill put back in. My hubby and I agreed we would try and get pregnant during this time that I don't have a fill (we have 3 frozen embryos still) but I just don't know that is what I want now. Our first child is 15 yrs old (16 next month), our next one (4 yrs old) and now he wants one more. I just don't think that is what I want anymore. We will be praying about this issue more!!!

I feel so good! I'm ready to stop gaining weight now!!! I need to get my eatting undercontrol or I will gain more than I want. I'm working at Horizon Resources now and have a desk job. I quite at Applebee's it seemed to get a little crazy for my family when I worked nights, my house kind of turned into a bachelor pad - all the boys doing whatever whenever :)

But with a desk job comes less activity! I can't do recess duty at the kids' school over lunch anymore because of my new job and that makes me sad.

I need to start exercising!!!!

I can't even describe how much better I feel. I realize now, it wasn't that I needed to gain weight back, it was that I needed to be drinking my protein shakes and getting some nutrition to my body! My bloodwork came back good, blood sugar, Vitamin B all that looked good. My bad cholestrol is too high, but I will work on that later :) I have gained a few pounds and feel amazing.

127 lbs

I went to Bismarck today and got a complete unfill. They nurse there said maybe she could leave a little fill in but I insisted we take it all out. I need some healing time right now. They took all of the fill out and then sent me to radiology for a fluoroscopy to see what everthing looked like.

The fluro went good with the barium (it went through pretty good), then the radiologist gave me a radioactive pill to swallow so he could see what would happen. It wouldn't go down, so I had to drink a bunch of water and wait 10 min. It still hadn't gone down, so we had to do it again. He was very concerned. After more water, it went down.

Dr. Aceves received the CD with the fluro on it and recommended 3 weeks on clear liquids, slowly move to full liquids, then mushie, then very slowly on solids.

Unfill here I come. I'm so tired all the time for not eating enough protein. I talked to Dr. Aceves office and they recommend a complete unfill and get blood work done to make sure that nothing is wrong.
